One of my favorite subreddits is /r/battlestations, which is basically just pictures of users’ desks and computers. I thought it’d be fun to have a similar topic here!
All we really need is a photo of your setup, but you’re encouraged to outline what specific tech you’re showing off too. Here’s mine to open up the thread!
My Little Corner
- Desk: IKEA ALEX Drawer Unit, LINNMON Tabletop, and KRILLE legs (x2)
- Chair: IKEA MILLBERGET in white with a throw blanket to make it cozy
- PC: Custom build from 2015. Not pictured, but I have a Surface Laptop (gen 1) that I take to/from school.
- Monitors: Dell S2340M (main), Acer S202HL (secondary; old monitor I was using before I got the Dell)
- Webcam: Logitech C615 (my grad program is all online and I have to record a lot of video replies)
- Lights: Wellweks swing arm lamp that I bought off Amazon, IKEA Dioder command strip’d to the back of the desk for cool light effects (I keep it on this light blue; also helpful for when I have to rewire things down below)
- Audio Junk: Behringer UMC404HD audio interface (the big thing with all the knobs on the left; not pictured, but I run two Samson Q2Us to it), Behringer UCA202 for when I get around to setting up a mix-minus, Behringer HA400 headphone amp (for splitting the signal from the UMC404HD out), Creative T3150W speakers (bought back in 2014; there’s a sub down below the desk. I’m very happy with the set), can you tell this is where I waste all my money
- Keyboard: HP Wireless Elite V2 (I’ve had this keyboard since 2012. I switched to a Razer Blackwidow that I got for free for a few months, but I really prefer the feel of typing on the HP. It’s much quieter and more compact too, and I like that I can easily move it out of the way when I’m writing in a notebook or something)
- Mouse: Mionix Castor in Ice Cream (it’s a cute color and I like the side buttons)
The notebook on the left is my planner. Without it, I probably would have flunked out of grad school at this point.
This is a vanity shot of some of my little toys. The pencil cup is a Darth Vader mug that I have had for probably ten years at this point. In front of the monitor, you can see my Hermione Granger Nendroid. I bought the picture frame at Flying Tiger Copenhagen and found the insert it came with really funny so I kept it. I use post-its like an animal so you can see my pile on the right, my preferred pen (Pilot G2 in 0.38), my computer glasses (Gunnar Vertex Onyx; as I said, my grad program is 100% online, so I spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer and these help with headaches), and my phone (OnePlus 5).
Finally, here’s a shot of my corkboard. I (poorly) Photoshopped out some of the last names on it for privacy reasons, but the big posts and notes are from my students in one of my student teaching placements. I also have a conference badge from last October, some Harry and the Potters paraphernalia, two postcards my sister bought me (reading hell yeah & computers are fun and make us smarter), and a Virginia Woolf art print that my sister also bought me because I love her (Virginia and my sister in that order, just kidding)
