Favorite Streamers/Let’s Players

Alex

Recently I’ve found myself being drawn towards watching a lot more let’s plays/streams as I had been doing school stuff and now on the job hunt. In particular, something that I’ve been trying to do now has been to follow more women on streaming platforms (especially women of color).

I am always looking for suggestions, so I thought I’d make a thread for us all to trade suggestions.

For me, I’ve been really fond of:

Shadypenguinn: Shady has a very family friendly channel, and someone who I’ve been watching for a couple years now. He primarily produces Pokemon content (regular Let’s Play, specialized Nuzlockes, wi-fi competitions, etc), although has branched out to other games like Spider-Man, Kingdom Hearts, and he’s been doing an ongoing Fire Emblem: Three Houses let’s play. On the overall he’s a very fun and wholesome dude, and he occasionally has his wife and daughter on some videos which is really cute.

Recommended starting point: Let’s Play Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction, Pokemon Sword/Shield Wi-Fi Battles, REALLY ADORABLE FAMILY VIDEO

Marz: Marz is someone I recently started following on YouTube after watching her Spider-Man let’s play. She primarily plays a lot of action/action RPG games, and has really enjoyable rage moments. She occasionally does life update videos, where she talks about her experiences with chronic pain and struggles with anxiety, which I really appreciate.

Recommended starting point: Marz Plays Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marz Plays Nier: Automata

ValkeyrieAurora: An absolute meme queen. She mainly streams on Twitch, but posts video compilations of her playthroughs on YouTube called “Valkeyrie Ventures.” She also does the occasional video essay, most of which have been centered around Drakengard/Nier (and very informative for someone jumping into the lion’s den that is Yoko Taro’s games i.e. me).

Recommended starting point: Valkyrie Ventures: Untitled Goose Game, Valkyrie Ventures: Pokemon Sword, Lore Summary: From Drakengard to Nier: Automata

quqco: So I first heard of quqco due to the headlines about her being banned from Twitch after wearing a Chun-Li cosplay, due to a harassment campaign from a bunch of bad actors from Reddit. She mostly streams her art and cosplays (which are very great), and just has an overall very laidback and relaxed vibe. She tells a lot of stories about trips and just her day to day, and has a REALLY REALLY adorable cat.

SayHeyRocco - Rocco is a family-friendly cat puppet Twitch streamer. His main game is Sea of Thieves, but also dips into games like Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. He does a lot of charity work for The AbleGamers Foundation and is very queer-friendly. He’s a pure delight to watch. Here are a few videos.
