PlayStation 5

Yesterday Sony unveiled their next-gen console, the PlayStation 5, with a stream jam-packed with new games from new and familiar properties.

The console will have versions available with and without a disc drive. No release date or price have been announced, but it will be out by this fall, given the release windows announced for some games.

Personally, I don’t see myself getting a PS5 anytime in the near future—still gotta get me a Switch!—but man did this stream make me want one.

Very excited for Horizon: Forbidden Forest (and hoping aloy finds a wonderful gf), and jazzed about Miles getting his own game! Project Athia looks really interesting, and I can definitely see myself enjoying Kena.

On the console, I think I’m slowly warming up to the design? I wasn’t super thrilled about it, but it’s not too bad. I think it’s just having a white console after years of not having one that’s a weird adjustment, lol.

Really curious to see when Sony drops the price though. It feels like they & Microsoft are both waiting for the other one to announce it first, but we’ll have to get it soon enough considering they’re both presumably launching by the end of this year.
