What’s the vibe this week? (February 16 - 22)

I was rewatching some of Korra this weekend, and it’s still so jarring seeing the improvement in quality of the side character arcs/villain between Books 2 and 3. It went from Unalaq being bland and this weird focus on Mako doing cop stuff in Book 2, to the sheer charisma and interesting dynamics of the Red Lotus and the sister dynamics of Lin & Su.

Like I just think back to coming off of Book 2 feeling underwhelmed, and then getting blown away in comparison every week with the Book 3 episodes, it’s wild.

Korra is a rollercoaster in quality. I absolutely agree that Book 2 is a serious dip. Joe and I rewatched it a few months ago and it was such a slog to get through. I knew it was worth it to get to Book 3, but I have to imagine it was tough to keep the faith when folks were watching it on its original release schedule.

On the subject of Avatar, we preordered the snazzy steelbooks that are coming out for The Last Airbender, and they’re supposed to come out tomorrow. I’m excited to rewatch the series again. This will only be my third time through; I never watched it as a kid. Looking forward to that blu-ray quality!

How to fix Legend of Korra season 2? Focus on Korra’s spiritual stuff.

And begin setting up Korrasami. Dump all the other romance stuff.

THIS WEEK IS SO LONG AND IT’S ONLY WEDNESDAY

I’m racing to finish up my research project. I have two books left, so I’ve committed to reading half a book a day. I saved the two I’m most excited to read for last, though–I’m in the middle of The Hate U Give right now.

Steven Universe ends in March! AHHHHH (๑˃̶͈̀o˂̶͈́๑)

y’all I’ve been stressed doing paperwork for loan repayment and getting closer to hearing back from the job I had a second interview with, so naturally I started making my OCs in Picrew again

I’M SO EXCITED AND SAD AND TERRIFIED LOL. Despite some of my misgivings with the show, it’s been such a wonderful & beautiful run, and I’m excited to see where Rebecca Sugar goes after this.

I’ve been meaning to pick up The Hate U Give! I had made a list of books I wanted to read and that’s been sitting on it for a while now.

Reading my last book over the next two days! Then I just need to write the damn thing…

I really recommend it. It was heavy but good. It’s on the long side for young adult literature (my copy was 437 pages), but it reads pretty quickly.
