Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

This thread is the meeting ground for our little community. We realize that many of our users have been invited by friends and there are many familiar faces here already; others may be brand new friends waiting to meet or folks who have lost touch over the years. I guess I’ll start us off!

Hi everyone! I’m Cassie. That’s my actual name. I used to use the internet under a Pokemon-inspired pseudonym. No, I’ve never spelled that word correctly on the first try.

I am 25 years old (and deeply insecure about it and the realities of being in an aging body). Three years ago, I moved 200~ miles from my hometown for college with my boyfriend. I was pretty unhappy there, and moving was probably one of the best decisions for me. We’re very happy here and looking to set down some roots.

In 2018, I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent Education & English. I’m a certified teacher for 7-12 English Language Arts; I’ll start my job hunt in the next few months. Presently, I’m attending grad school full-time in an Educational Technology Specialist program and completing a graduate assistantship. I’m on track to complete my thesis and graduate this December.

As far as hobbies go, I like reading, playing video games, and hiking. I’m a little goblin who loves to listen to music but has absolutely no musical ability of my own. I do a podcast about Harry Potter with my boyfriend. I used to do a bit of writing (of Star Wars fanfiction), but these days I just write 30 page academic papers.

I’m 24 years old, and I’m studying music at community college. My instrument of choice is my voice, but I also play the viola, and am slowly learning piano and guitar. With any luck, I’ll be done with my music certificate by this December. After that? Who knows! I am full of existential dread!

Aside from music, I’m also very into acting, writing, video and tabletop games, musicals, animation (just watching it, though), and being gay. I’m not sure what else to add, so we’re gonna leave it there!

I’m a 27 college graduate who is currently working as a substitute for the local school district. I am also an active member in our local community theater and expanding my horizons as far as I can. I currently have a show I wrote that will be workshopped and it will be my first time directing.

My interest include reading, watching anime, and coming up with stories. And movies. I absolutely love movies and writing about them. My dream is to write a Star War, though that seems so far, far away.

Finally, my name comes from the fact that I had a heart transplant seven years ago. While things still aren’t easy for me, I truly appreciate this new chance at life I have.

several days late as usual

My name is Alex. This is also my actual name, which I’ve never gotten a chance to use as a username on the Internet before, so it’s a lil weird.

I’m 26 years old, and finished up an (intensive) clinical-focused graduate program to be a therapist back in August. Currently, I’m doing per diem work as a clinician for an ongoing study on expectant families, and continuing the job hunt for a full time position. I am undecided on if I ever want to get a PhD, but right now I am enjoying the much needed distance from school.

For hobbies, I enjoy video games, hiking, listening to podcasts, and exploring events around my city. I’ve also started recently getting back into writing after not being serious about it/having felt drawn to it in years, which is very exciting!

I’m Jon. I honestly wasn’t expecting to have to write the equivalent of “present yourself to the class”

But uh, I’m 27 years old aaaand I’ve been a few things. I’ve worked at the DMV, I’ve worked in Customer Service and I’ve been a Cook for a bit.

Currently I’m planning to sort of establish a career as opposed to being a job mercenary, so I can have a space to call my own for my dog and me. But I’m tireeeed >:

I happened to see Alex post a link to this on twitter the other day, and figured…what the hell, it’s been too long since forum days.

I go by Mel now (short for my real name), but about a hundred years ago I used a name with some wolf themes going on. At this point in time I’m 26 and pretending like 27 isn’t three months away.

For those of you who might have known me a long time ago, a lot has changed - I currently live with my girlfriend (probably the biggest change!) and our dog, Moogle. He’s a very fluffy and very dumb Samoyed puppy. I currently work for the government as a childcare provider/teacher, which has let me meet a ton of awesome kids while reminding me neat things like the fact that Kingdom Hearts came out before they were born, or the reaction of “wow! you’re old!” to showing them my GameBoy.

Aside from that, my hobbies have shifted around from time to time, but constants have been cosplay/propmaking, tabletop gaming, video games, and writing. My girlfriend and I have a small stream that we do a few times a week, and we go to conventions every so often too.
Most of my free time is spent on Final Fantasy XIV, since my free company is all friends that live all over the place, and it’s a nice way to relax at the end of the day.
